Controversial Thoughts

Post  Mindbender on Thu Sep 18, 2008 6:20 pm

Men were astonished at the content of the words of the Lord Jesus. They wondered how He knew so much, not having been a product of the Rabbinical schools of His day. They were reluctant to believe His teaching because of the lack of what they felt to be the necessary credentials. At the same time, there was an irrefutable power to His teaching. Here the Lord Jesus gives us one of the most important statements for the honest seeker after knowledge. If a man is willing to obey the truth, he will learn whether what Christ speaks is simply another religious teaching, or divine mandate. This does away with idle speculation and curious investigation. God does not display and reveal His truth simply to satisfy the intellectual curiosity of men, but to subdue the will and save the soul.

Is truth that important to you that you are willing to stake your entire eternity upon it?

I know alot of people reject the idea of Christ as more then just a man. It seems that many are simply just either running from the light or inferiated with the idea that someone would have them to live another way then they themsleves choose. However God lets you choose, therefore you are free to do as you please. You see the message is he loves you first. A changing action comes from within and not from without. Come just as you are he pleads. Some have not had the ground tilled enough to properly plant the seed of faith but life will take care of that Laughing

Just think 2000 years from now you will look back and say man that was a short but very hard life. I'm so glad he gave his life for us and we now have all this. What a pleasant surprise it will be to some the love and not judgement will await and that he actually is real and does care.

Build me up buttercup or tell me why you object..

THis is good, but all topics should be kept in the discussion weeks. This should be a new topic in Week 3.

A Controversial Thought

Post  polishwoman on Tue Sep 23, 2008 7:01 pm

There are many paths to arrive at Oneness with our Creator. The person of Jesus, is but one. There was Mohammed, the Prophet of God, Budda, and of course the Jewish male God, Yahweh, who Jesus really did disagree with, because Jesus of Nazareth was all about Love, and treating everyone, not just those you know with love and respect. He was not about judging anyone. When you can locate where in the New Testament that Jesus said He was God/Human, and declared himself the savior of the world, plese add that to this discussion. No disrepect intended. You just need to do a little more reading of the New Testament ON YOUR OWN instead of believing what other people tell you it says.

Here is the new testament and it leaves no room for other methods of getting to the creator.
Act 4:10 be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, in this name does this man stand before you whole.
Act 4:11 This is the Stone which you builders have counted worthless, and He has become the Head of the Corner.
Act 4:12 And there is salvation in no other One; for there is no other name under Heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

Yaweh from my knowledge is another name for God
יהוה is the four-letter name of God
Biblical Hebrew often omits vowel sounds from its writings, which would be shown in English.
These four letters are usually transliterated from Hebrew as IHVH in Latin, JHWH in German, French and Dutch, and YHWH in English. This was variously rendered as "Yahweh" or "Jehovah"

Here is Jesus telling us he is God or that they are one.
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father but by Me.
John 14:7 If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also. And from now on you know Him and have seen Him.
John 14:8 Philip said to Him, Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.
John 14:9 Jesus said to him, Have I been with you such a long time and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father. And how do you say, Show us the Father?
John 14:10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father in Me? The Words that I speak to you I do not speak of Myself, but the Father who dwells in Me, He does the works.
John 14:11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the very works themselves.
John 14:12 Truly, truly, I say to you, He who believes on Me, the works that I do he shall do also, and greater works than these he shall do, because I go to My Father.
John 14:13 And whatever you may ask in My name, that I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Here we find Jesus praying for us to the Father.
John 17:3 This is Eternal Life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.
Now do I truly believe that Jesus is the Father? I would say yes and no. In character yes, as the same exact being no. However our finite brains cannot comprehehend the infinite. I have some pentecostal oneness friends who firmly believe they are the same person. I have a hard time with thinking of him talking to himself at his baptism so all could here it when the spirit came down like a dove and the voice came from heaven.

What does "to know God" mean in the Bible ? Is it possible to know God intimately and be His friend ? It means much more than just knowing about God. God wants us to know Him and His love & mercy & goodness,... in very personal and real ways, to enjoy His presence in our lives, and to see and then join Him in His activity & work in and around us.
